XHTML Validation And Uniform Layout
We code our program with the following DOCTYPE: <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd"> Hereby we say that our pages are valid XHTML 1.0 Trasitional. This is not the case for many pages, so I set out to start validating all the pages. There are several advantages to this. These are:
At the same time and along the same lines is a uniform layout of PhpGedView. Currently PhpGedView is being developed in a very free way. It is so free that many pages look different. To aide the user, a consistent layout will make the user feel more at home with PhpGedView. One of the first steps I have taken is the uniform table layout. The next step I am taking is to uniform the JavaScript statements. This means that when a user sees a JavaScript link it will say in the statusbar what that action is for. There are a few more steps on my planning as you can see. There is even more but that will come later. As I will continue to work on this, the table below will be updated regularly.
