PhpGedView 4.2.3 offers an updated reports subsystem, numerous bug fixes, compatibility with PHP5.3, and restores compatibility with PostgreSQL which was lost in 4.2.2.

The stable release of Version 4.2 is now available for download. As well as hundreds of bug fixes and enhancements, this release offers performance
and stability fixes, enhanced multimedia features and three additional languages
(Indonesian, Slovenian and Romanian).
Note that PhpGedView 4.2 requires PHP 5.2 or later. If your server does not meet this requirement, then you should use PhpGedview 4.1. Note that this will not be maintained or supported, other than for serious security issues. The latest version in the 4.1 series is PhpGedView 4.1.7.

- Minimum PHP Requirements Raised for Next PhpGedView Release
As mentioned earlier (and below on November 16th), the
next version of PhpGedView, version 4.2 tentatively scheduled for January 2009 will have a minimum
requirement of PHP 5.2.0, and a recommended minimum of PHP 5.2.3.

- PhpGedView 4.1.6 released
The stable release of Version 4.1.6 is now available for download.
his release includes hundreds of bugs fixes and feature enhancements including:
- autocomplete on name/place/record entry
- handling of international names
- tree-navigator view
- installation/configuration wizard
- multimedia support
- better theme customisation
- translation into more languages
- broswer/server compatibility improvements
4.1.6 will be the last release of PhpGedView that will run on PHP4. The next release will require PHP5. You should consider asking your server's administrator to upgrade. Similarly, future versions of PhpGedView will make better use of the underlying database. MySQL4.1 and SQLite3.2.6 are recommended minimums.

- PhpGedView 4.1.5 released
The stable release of Version 4.1.5 is now available for download.
This release is a maintenence release which includes many bug fixes and important security updates. It is highly recommended that all sites upgrade to this version.

- PhpGedView Related Presentations at Family History Conferences
John Finlay and some students from Neumont University will be presenting some of their
work at the FamilySearch Developers Conference. This presentation
will focus on a PHP library for communicating with the New FamilySearch system
through their recently release web service API. The presentation will also show how PhpGedView can remotely link to data
from New FamilySearch in the same way it can link to data from another instance of PhpGedView.
Another project that will be highlighted at this conference is the new GedLynk project.
GedLynk is an open source Java desktop application which allows users to synchronize local GEDCOM data with remote data sources
such as New FamilySearch and/or PhpGedView.

- PhpGedView Classes at the Utah Valley PAF Users Group
John Finlay will be doing training on installing, managing, and using PhpGedView to share your family tree online and collaborate with relatives.
Materials for the classes including slides and outlines are available for download.
The training classes will be done in 3 parts according to the following schedule:

- PhpGedView at 27th IAJGS International Conference on Jewish Genealogy
John Finlay and Meliza Amity gave a presentation about the PhpGedView to the IAJGS conference in Salt Lake City. They demonstrated PhpGedView and highlighted many of the Hebrew and Jewish features, many of which are unique to PGV.

John Finlay and Chris Stolworthy gave a presentation about the Research Assistant module for PhpGedView
at the 2007 Family History and Technology Conference. For his part
in the presentation, Chris won a best student presentation award.

Hilton Campbell also had a demo setup on his Genesis Project which is a desktop tool built on the PhpGedView
web service API which will allow you to search across several PhpGedView sites at once. His demo won the
